In June – September 2022, the United Nations Development Programme in Thailand and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Council of Thailand, brought in representatives from both the government and civil society to participate in the Human Security Multi-Sectoral Dialogue Phases II. The dialogues serve as the platform where government and civil society organizations can work together and find solutions to achieve all human security.

We introduced the policy innovation tools, such as People and Policy Journey, Hope and Dream and Iceberg model of violence to open space for discussion and policy co-creation. In Chiangmai, by using these tools, participants were enabled to use their imagination to reflect upon the most concerning insecurity in their community. They envisioned that in the next 10 years, the northern region of Thailand will be the top Clean Air City in the world!

Apart from exchanging knowledge, expertise, and innovative solutions to reduce violence through a human security framework, we also bring theory into practice by visiting the local community. For example, in the Central region, the dialogue was held in Bangkok where participants had a chance to visit the Din Daeng Community. They learned more about the model for strengthening community security, especially, in the area of education and anti-drugs. The dialogues were completed in 4 regions of Thailand (North, Northeast, South and Central) with over 100 participants.

What’s more? We will continue to foster collaboration between multi-sectoral stakeholders to counter all dimensions of human insecurity. Stay tuned for more activities and media resources!
